Birthday letter

Dear Tracy,

Today is your birthday! I am so happy to be able to celebrate it with you! God has brought you into my life and I am blessed! I am blessed to call you "Sister". You are someone I can be real with, someone I can cry with, and laugh with. You are there for me when things are hard and most importantly have become one of my prayer partners. Thank you, sister-mine! I love you!

May you have a year filled with God's blessings and may you grow to know Him better as each day passes.

Happy Birthday.

Love,

Susan

More Pictures, less words...enjoy

p.s. The longest three minutes: waiting for the cornbag to be heated in the microwave...
p.p.s. Fun Fact: the new stove has a "Sabbath feature"...which means it's Kosher...seriously!

The day the delivery truck stood still.

We bought a new range/oven! It's a Frigidaire flat top. Very nice and new! It is a self cleaning oven and it also has a convection option...I like!

The only annoying part about buying something large was that it had to be delivered...which means we are just asking for trouble...the delivery truck (driven by the moron twins) got stuck halfway down the driveway....not surprising at all! This happens at least twice a year, whether it is the gas truck or the electric company or some delivery truck...
Usually, we end up watching them struggle for 4-8 hours, trying to escape the clutches of ice and mud. They start with a typical tow truck and end up calling out the BIG BOY tow truck....FINALLY, they drive away as quick as they can....most likely cursing us and swearing to never again deliver to our address!

But at least we got our stove!! And it's a beaut! (of course, I didn't get the pleasure of cooking on it first...that was Melody's joy!)

Logging out...

Most of you may know that, recently I went on a fast from the internet. Actually, it was facebook that I had avoided for around ten days.
Well, after the ten days of absence from the facebooking world, I have made the decision to let it completely go. I have realized that I don't really miss it at all! Not that I don't miss contact with my friends and family...I do! And, I don't want to condemn anyone else who uses this social network, but I must admit that, for me, it isn't the way that I want to keep in touch with everyone!
SO...if you want to chat with me...you can call! If you want to know what's generally going on in my so very exciting life (not!), you can come HERE to read about it!

I'm a believer...

I have recently read in all 4 gospels about the resurrection of Jesus. I find it interesting that the women were the first to believe that Jesus had risen. Is it because we women are that easily swayed? (Genesis 3) Or is it that God gave us a gift? Something to do with the fact that we were the first to fall in the garden so long before? Maybe this is just my small mind trying to decipher something that doesn't need to be deciphered.

I think it was kind of funny that when the women went and told the disciples what they had seen, the disciples thought what the women had said sounded like nonsense! (Luke 24:11) Jesus had to open the men's minds to understand the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45)

Well, what this woman knows, is that she believes. I continually pray that He will open my mind to understand His word and what it means for me personally.

p.s Am I back from my internet fast? I am coming back very slowly. It is not something I want to take over my life again. There is a real world out there that I want to be a part of...and the cyber-world isn't filling that hole.

Happy February, Y'all!

FINALLY! It's February! It's all easy from here on out. The days get longer, which means it stays lighter longer! Yay! And we soo need the light, don't we? Isn't it amazing how depressing the early darkness can become? The routine is getting a bit old...a snow storm twice a week, crockpot dinners on a regular basis...BORING! I am so ready for the barbecue again, the pool and the hot afternoons, drinking iced coffee and looking for shady spots in the yard. For now, we long for sunny days and feeling the warmth of the sun instead of the fire....it's coming!

Okay, that's my post for now. Short and sweet. Happy Groundhog Day eve!

Joy Cometh at night (?)

I am a worrier. I know I am not alone...we all worry at some point or another. I just happen to do it on a daily basis! Take last night, for instance.

My long, busy day had finally ended. I was cozy in my bed, eyes closed, slow, relaxed breathing had commenced. It was time to re-charge my batteries. But, sadly, as the body is totally willing, the mind just won't shut off!

Every possible scary scenario flitted through my mind:

~Losing Paul
~Losing my kids
~becoming terminally ill myself
~Paul's job
~My homeschooling qualifications
~Money (or lack thereof)

Nothing new, just the same old fears cropping up. (The evil one sure knows when to strike!)

As I lay there letting him do his dirty work on me, all at once, the Holy Spirit started to speak to me. And I made the choice to listen to His voice. I saw a picture of my Heavenly Father, beckoning me to Him. Holding out His arms, open for me to run to. And I heard Him laugh! LAUGH!

He said to me, "Susan, why are you worried about these trivial things?...Don't you know how small they are? This life, with its trips to the hospitals, cemetaries and poorhouses is not the end. I am the end!" WOW...my end is not in a coffin. It's in His arms.

I still heard the other voice...but it got smaller and quieter, because I started to praise God...just kept saying to Him, "I love you, Lord...You are my Heavenly Father and you want me to be with you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

And, you know something? The last thing I remember was a beautiful peace washing over my entire physical and spiritual being. No trace of fear remained. Nothing. Just the joy of knowing that He is my end. Cool.
