Filler Fodder

I am constantly blogging in my mind. About situations, facts, silly stories, dreams, complaints, hopes...whatever I can write about...pretty much littering the internet with more fodder. And what is fodder exactly? Well, if you know anything about animals, mostly the cud chewing kind, you understand that fodder is something to chew on. (barley, corn, forage, grain, grass, grub, hay, meal, pasturage, provender, provisions, straw, vittles) And I love posting stuff for people to chew on.
Unfortunately, most of the time, it is totally unimportant. Nothing to write home about...but still I post. And here is another one for your enjoyment:

I am going to a party. One of those parties. The kind of party that demands a certain attire. I needed a dress. Nothing typical, but, to coin a phrase from the above paragraph, something to write home about!! Yes, it must be enchanting, ravishing, stunning, sublime...it must have all of the ingredients to flatter my middle-aged form. (as I wrote the words "middle-aged", Melody winced and said,"You're not middle-aged! I hate that phrase!"...awww, thanks, Honey!)

So, I went shopping. Yay. Seven stores and two shopping days later, we entered the last store we thought would have something appropriate. I tried on 10 dresses. Nothing seemed to "jump" out at me. I was about to "settle" on a matronly sheath with georgette sleeves and a square diamond buckle belt(Ewww...), when Mel found a dress to end all dresses. Something that Audrey Hepburn would have had designed for her own wardrobe...(isn't it funny how it never looks the same on the hanger? We had passed this dress as we came into the store, never giving it a second glance, so insignificant it appeared) Thankfully, my daughter has an eye for style...she grabbed a pair of ankle strapped pumps and pushed an unenthusiastic me toward the dressing room...

Now, here's the kicker: Everything at this store was priced to sell. (yes, blame it on the stagnant economy) The tag on this dress was $15.00! And on the designer shoes? A mere $9.00! Wow! I could easily cover that! I mean, we had been looking at 60.- and 70.- dollar dresses! Twenty-four dollars for both a dress and shoes was nothing! Okay, on to the register!

Here's the most awesome part of this story. As we watched 'Amanda' ring us up, our jaws dropped as we realized that everything in the store was 70% off the ticketed price tags...so, if you do the math...my designer dress and shoes (both Chadwick's of Boston) cost $6.00 in all. My new nylons will cost more than the dress and shoes put together!!! Cool beans.

So, how's that for something to chew on?
